Health Facilities & Services

  • Medical Center: The Southwestern Vermont Medial Center (SWVMC) has 140 beds and 32 specialty areas. There are 136 medial personnel and affiliated professional staff (MD's, DO's, dentists, psychologists, nurse anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants).   • Clinics: Eating disorders, memory disorders, specializing in Alzheimer's, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, and oncology, recognized by the American College of Surgeons, and affiliiated with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston. The SWVMC may be contacted for details.

  • Nursing Care: Bennington has many facilities for different levels of skilled nursing care. In-home nursing services are also avaialable.

Cultural and Recreational Resources & Amenities
Steps away from the Bennington Battle Monument one can find the widely known Bennington Museum. The recently built Bennington Center for the Arts houses a professional equity theater company, the Oldcastle Theatre Co. The Bennington community is fortunate to have a close association with Bennington College which hosts internationally renown artists, writers, dancers, and musicians.   • Libraries: The Bennington Free Library contains a children's section, historical area, and public meeting rooms for 10 to 100 persons. North Bennington is served by the McCullough Library. Library facilities at local colleges connect to a network of resources making almost any publication available to students. Local residents may obtain a library card at Bennington College for a small fee.
  • Bennington Recreation Center: Bennington is fortunate to have a municipally owned and operated recreational facility. The "Rec Center" features a heated, 25 yard indoor pool, saunas, weight room, game room, and four outdoor tennis courts.
