BENNINGTON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Bennington Town Office - Third Floor Office - June 7, 2007 June 7, 2007 MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Tordis Ilg Isselhardt, Scott Murphy, Meg Campbell and Laura Gresh. ALSO PRESENT: Bob Stannard, BBC Director and Beth Antognioni 1. Minutes of May 14, 2007 Minutes were approved as written. 2. Guest Speaker - Bob Stannard, BBC Director Bob Stannard, BBC Director met with HPC to discuss happenings in Bennington. Bob noted that he will do his best to keep dialogue open between BBC and HPC with projects via the Design Committee as Meg is currently the Chair of the Design Committee. Bob will be joining a committee regarding the placement and restoration of an antique fountain that once belonged to Mr. Surdam(Milt Surdams father). Bob will propose that the fountain be placed on North Street in front of the open space of the little building between the Graphitek building and the CB Sports building. Bob's recommendation is that the fountain's location be kept downtown. Bob also noted that the Adams Locksmith building is for sale on Main Street and also the Krawczyk Nichols building. 3. DRB - No agenda items. 4. Making Defensible Decisions (Website) More discussion is needed on the website and the location of the link "Making Defensible Decisions". It was suggested that HPC members view other Town's websites to see what they do for Historic Preservation and be prepared for discussion at the next HPC meeting. Scott will check to see if changes to the website can be made in-house or if they need to be sent out. Tordis shared some of her notes regarding the Town's website. Action Item: Scott will look into who maintains the webstie. 5. Work on Historic District Checklist Meg handed out a draft of the "Application to the Historic Preservation Commission" to HPC members for review. This will need to be put on the next Agenda for further discussion. 6. Other Preservation Issues HPC will not be meeting with the Select Board on June 11 as previously discussed.
